June 2021
We are so thankful for you, your prayers and your support, all which enable us to minister to the church in Germany. Here are some highlights of this update:
Growing church membership
Positive six month review
Loosening Corona restrictions
Language learning for Paige
In May we welcomed a new couple into church membership. We are grateful to have a membership role, and that God adds to our local body of believers. This also gave me (Jonas) the opportunity to stress the importance of church membership for believers.
A few weeks ago marked six months of Jonas pastoring our church. I (Jonas) and those who made up the pastoral search committee were very encouraged at all that has happened in the past half year. One man commented that it is truly a miracle that God has brought us to this church. Our church revitalization is a humbling, slow and steady work and God has been faithful every step.
With Corona cases going down, Germany is beginning to open up again. As a church we are thankful that we were able to meet throughout the pandemic. However, congregational singing was prohibited for the past eight months. So it was a great joy for the church to finally sing together again three weeks ago when that regulation was lifted.
One of the important things for us as a family is for Paige to learn German. Language barriers make everything more difficult, from grocery shopping to relationships in the church. We prayed for a private tutor and God answered our prayer. Paige meets with a private tutor twice a week and has made good progress in her language.
We are excited to spend the month of July with family and friends in the States. It is a needed break for us and you can pray that we would be able to rest and recharge our batteries.
We thank God for you. We pray even as you read this, that you would know His loving care for you.
