Moving to Münster

We all live our lives waiting. As kids we wait for things like Christmas. As adults, we wait for things like buying cars, owning a home or entering retirement. But in one sense, all of life is waiting. We all wait for what comes after. As Christians we don´t wait without hope. No, on the contrary we wait with the great hope of eternal life and everlasting, deep joy in the presence of our good Shepherd. Because we have this great hope we can wait patiently here on earth.

So, in a sense we will always wait, as long as we live here on earth. We will wait for Jesus to come back or for him to call us home. But as we live life, periods of waiting and trusting in God give way to the actualization of the thing waited for.

It is with great joy we share that we have accepted the position as pastor of the church in Münster (“Evangelische Freikirche am Bohlweg”). We will be making the six-hour move north at the end of August and Jonas will start as the pastor on November 1st.

Please pray for the transition to Münster and that we would be faithful with our last few months in Munich. Pray that we as a family would grow spiritually. Pray for the church, that their hearts would be like good soil where the word of God will bring much fruit.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to be in Münster. Jonas preached from Philippians 1:1-11 and it was such a joy to be together with the church. Singing with the church was an especially exciting part. We haven´t sung with the church for over 2 months, as the COVID-19 restrictions in Munich are stricter than in Münster.

Calling our family is a big step for this small church as they have never had a full-time pastor. And it is a big step for us as Jonas steps into this role and we continue to adjust to life in Germany. We will continue to raise about half of our income through ministry partner support. Thank you to all of you who have been a part of what God is doing here. Thank you for transitioning to our new giving system and truly constantly encouraging us through your generosity. We are thankful to God for you and we trust He will continue to provide the necessary funds.

By God´s grace we have already found an apartment in Münster. Long story short, we were one of literally 600 others interested in the apartment and God saw fit to give it to us. He provides! We will live 15 minutes from the church and 15 minutes from Jonas’ parents. We are really looking forward to being close to family. Our apartment will be on the top left in the picture below.

Lord willing, we will be welcoming our second daughter in the next five weeks. Please continue to pray for Paige´s pregnancy and that God would calm her heart about giving birth in Germany amidst corona regulations.

If you feel led to support a local German congregation, we would love to hear from you. There are two specific things we ask you to consider supporting us. First would you regularly pray for us and the church? Second would you prayerfully consider investing in the kingdom of God in Germany by giving? Below you can find a link to donate to our ministry.

“Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.”

Psalm 25:4-5

We would love to hear from you and how we can pray for you.

God bless you,

Jonas, Paige and Nora
