Summer 2024

Church:

Today we celebrated four baptisms. Praise God! It was powerful for the church to hear their testimonies and see them pledge their allegiance to King Jesus and link arms with fellow Christians in the church.  This was the first time the church was able to incorporate baptism into the Sunday morning service thanks to the recent purchase of a portable baptismal. Other times we have baptized in a lake or rented another church, but today so many kids and older saints, who otherwise could not have been there, were able to witness the baptisms. That was very encouraging. God is building His church, in Germany, and all over the world.

We have been hosting a Saturday morning book study at our house reading through The Gospel-Centered Life. We eat breakfast together, sing, then discuss the book. Ten to 15 people have been a part of it, a couch full of which are teenagers. We love that they are there and continue to come and be a part of the study.

Our church has a new leadership team in place, and I (Jonas) think they will serve the church well. We hope to help the church grow in discipleship and evangelism as we also continue to build structure.

This fall we will have been at Evangelische Freikirche am Bohlweg for four years. And in that time young people have met in a “teen” group every other week. But as they grow in number, and age, we really need to serve them better in the youth ministry. We pray that we would find a team of church members who would invest in this group.

Please continue to pray God would provide a bigger meeting space for our church. Our current room has been too small for quite some time. Simply put, it is problematic for many reasons. We continue to search, pray and look forward to the days ahead.

Family:

We are tired. But by God’s grace we really are doing well. We thank God for 27 weeks with our growing baby boy in Paige’s belly and we pray for God’s continued protection over his life.

In May our family joined Jonas’ extended family for a week in Fanø, Denmark. It was our first camping trip as a family. I (pregnant Paige) was especially thankful for no rain on our inaugural tent experience. Memories were made :)

Our car broke down on the way to Denmark. So we finished the trip with a rental and the next week, Jonas found us a wonderful car to buy, not so conveniently located in Spain. But Jonas and his dad flew down to Malaga and drove, what is now, our family bus 26 hours home to Münster. That was a crazy two days for them, but we are so grateful for God’s provision with “Brummy” (named after my Uncle Norman Brummett). The girls are pumped about the sliding doors.

In June, Jonas and I attended the Evangelium 21 Conference in Hamburg (ohne Kinder) with other members from our church. Carl Trueman spoke on the theme “Being Hopeful in a Strange New World.” Jonas preached at good friends’ church that Sunday. We came home encouraged and refreshed.

Fenley turns four in a few weeks. I heard her and Nora brainstorming Fenley’s party plans. Disco, mermaid costume, horse riding and watching a farmer drive his tractor were all on the list. Their ages are so fun and they make us laugh every day.

Thank you for your continued prayers, support, snail mails and check-ins. We couldn’t do what we are without you.

Much love,

Jonas, Paige, Nora and Fenley

Prayer:

  • God’s sustaining care for our baby and Paige

  • That our church would be a light in Münster

  • Christians who were baptized today

Much love,

Jonas, Paige, Nora and Fenley
